Time for a Pullback?

With earnings season just kicking on, I should be sharing these more often. The thing is, I have a fairly busy summer myself so I honestly can't promise I will. Either way, the turmoil globally has been overwhelming as markets continue upwards.

It is absurd that the markets have become so stable & even powerful when we would anticipate them to sympathize to the international turmoil. Regardless, I'm personally predicting a pullback this week. It's definitely overdue. Therefore, I picked up UVXY on Thursday & held both overnight that night & am still holding. I may be completely wrong but we shall see soon.

Enough about me, here's the data I collected from Friday, July 15th:

13D's: HLF, LDRH, OSG (5), ATSG, CPXX, OKSB, LDRH, ECIG & JFC

13G's: JMEI, CLVS, WBAI, ALJ, DRI, CYRT, NI, BRG, XLNX, XLBH & FXS

Form 3's: ACHC, SRNE, BHLB, XRM, CNRM, TURV, PSMT, NNAN, CLCN, SUMR, CHRT, CATM, CRCM (2), DHR, WEX (3), ECIG, CIO, MSFT, CSLT & ESND

Form 4's (Insider Buys): AA (2), YORW (6), JGW, DCA (3), RILY, LII (9), ERC, DSU, DHG, RIPT, STAG (6), NNUTU, VWR, RHP, ED, VABK, MGLN, RNVA (2), FUR, SCG (2), CUBE, LMRK, AZZ, BLIN, KFS, LXRP, MDSY & CWGL

Form 4's (Insider Acquirements for $0): B (4), HBMD (11), KR (3), LIMA, BFA (2), PRMT, WSTC, SUMR, CHK (2), RGEN, VUZI (3), COO, SEAC (5), OPRX (2), YELP, VEEV, HCOM, OXY (7), ODP (4), AMRS (10) & NPTN (3)

Form 4's (Insider Sales): ADI, MMS, ALOG, UVV, B (4), OMN, K, LII, SYK, AMWD, XEC (3), CRS, USNA (2), YUM, PLD, AMID, ESSA, WDFC, VRTX, ANDE, COL, SWK, LKD (3), AKAM, NVTA, MON (2), UTHR, SIGI, STT, AOSL, IMPR (2), KMX (2), AGM (2), TYPE, ENBL, VSAT (2), XPO, DAL, ZSAN (2), SHAK (2), CTL, RGEN, AMR, NVDA (2), SAEX, GRUB, CPRT, GWRE, SMTC, MCK, AZZ, HSON, CVLT (5), NDAQ, GLPI, IQNT, QTWO, YELP, YUMA, DY (2), BCOR, GPN, CIEN, SUPN, PERY (2), PLAY (2), VEEV, XTLY, LOCK, SUM, MOV, OXY (3), TAX, HQY (2), ROVI, AAC (2), OMER, LITE, WDAY, TDOC, ILMN, WEB, CRM (2), NILE, ANGO, TNET, CUDA, JCTCF, CBDS, IESC, MBFI, TUBE, XFTB & SYY

Form 4's (Insider Disposals for $0): ACHC, PNY (2), HBMD, BFA (2), ABM, SHEN, DAL, NGL, SHAK, COO & ATSG

I'm going to be brief on my wrap up notes because I have other things to do but the only CFO buying works for RNVA. The CFO's selling work forOXY, SUPN, DY, YUMA, MCK, CVLT, RGEN, VSAT, SWK, XEC, B, MBFI, SYY & PLAY. I always note the CFO's because I like to follow the money & the CFO's usually know what's up.

The largest buy on Friday via Form 4 goes to B. Riley Financial (RILY) with $865,161 worth of shares purchased. Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) was a notable ticker from the 13D list because of the amount of filers. I pulled the chart & it looked as if it hit a double bottom not too long ago & is headed back upwards with potential to get back above $15 per share. The other very noteworthy 13D purchase was placed by Carl Icahn for Herbalife (HLF) who picked up 17M more shares of the stock. As for the 13G's, I noted that Steve Cohen has increased his stake by 71% in Alon USA Energy Inc (ALJ), picking up an additional amount of 2,691,948 company shares.

On the sale end of Friday, Yum Brands (YUM) was the largest sale with the CEO selling $3,979,601 worth of his shares. I also always find it interesting when I see insiders essentially selling their index like Friday's sale of Nasdaq OMX Group (NDAQ) of $1,669,822 worth of shares sold by the Executive Vice President. The largest sale from an individual shareholder last week sold on Monday, July 11th by a Facebook (FB) Director who sold off $169,791,612 worth of their shares.

That's all I have for now as I await the open of the global markets. I hope this helps somebody out there.

Friday Was Brexodus to the Markets - Insider Forms Fairly Normal Still

Brexit poll results took the world by storm while the anticipated result was denied & the British decided to leave the European Union causing a very impactful, negative blow to global markets. I was personally about to leave for Thursday night's 'Music in the Park' when the first official tally was announced for a very small region of the voting area. I was upset all day with my long positions of UVXY & IAU along with my short position in SPY. I felt dismal about it all but somehow stuck to my gut & held. When the first region of Gibraltar was reported on Bloomberg, things seemed even worse for the positions I was holding, with a whopping 95% coming in for "remain". Luckily, I was more than just in a hurry to get out the door or I may have cut losses before after hours closed. While in attendance of the music that evening, I finally checked my phone & bingo! What seemed like a Brexit result was playing out like I had expected despite the media shifting the the "Bremain" standpoint all week long. Anyhow, that was my plan & I reluctantly stuck to it resulting in the rewards I had anticipated. Typically, UVXY is not a long position but I have held it over the weekend in belief that the markets will continue their descent. I feel it to be safe because UVXY is geared up for a technical bounce Monday morning anyways with the 10 SMA about to cross up the 20 SMA.

Anyhow, I haven't written a blog since April because quite frankly, I have been busy & my trading has been somewhat subdued with me just holding long positions for the past month or so. I finally did my own research to see what the big boys were buying & selling so I will pass along the information to anyone reading. I will likely be tracking this next week, too but cannot promise I'll have time to pull together a blog. Either way, here is the data I collected from Friday, June 24th. I hope it helps someone out there.

13D's: TPHS, JASN, DO, CNA, MSBF, SNTA, YKTX, CHRS, SCON, PTX, EJ & DLBDF

13G's: INFI, MFSF, FDC, GBT, SELF, GROW, EGRX & HCFB

Form 3's: LM, CELG, EOS, EVM, EIA, CEV, WAB, QLTI, NXN, NNC, NUO, NPP, JPC, NPF, NPM, NPI, OXM, MIW, EIM, EVN, EQT, EVJ, ENX, JPS, MNTA, EVY, EVO, EIP, EVP, JRS, T, GBBI (2), NIM, NQS, NXP, LENS, NXQ, NXR, NSL, JTD, JTA, NTX, ROP, NEA, NUW, NAZ, NKX, NZH, NCA, WIC, ERII, NXC, NTC, JCE, JQE, JDD, NAD, JMF, AA, NZF, AMID, JFR, JRO, NKG, JGV, NQM, NMY, AIMT, NMT, NUM, JLS, JMT, NMZ, NUV, NXJ, NVY, NAN, NYV, NNY, ZSAN (3), EAC & FSB

Form 4's (Insider Buys): PGLC, FLKS, IBAL, PHF, AWF, IHRC, IBTX, ASB, FUR, FNBC (3), TIPT, LFUS (6), EGN, FBP (11), CRVP, AHH (2), KFS, MIC, IMH, INTT, BLIN (2), BKSC, NYMX, TBNC (8), CNBKA, REEMF, ESES, PDVW & TLK

Form 4's (Insider Acquirements for $0): ABCO (7), BGCP (3), WSBF, CVBF, NQP, EVLV (5), RAD (16), MATX, SYRG, LIME (2), TURV, TMPS (3), CNF, CNS (7), IRET (15), COLB (10), GOOG, WEYS, TCO, PLPM (2), IBP, TSE (8), DCT, ROP, LEN (7), CTT (5), TTI (6), YELP, BOX (3), RH (7), BGCP & CC

Form 4's (Insider Sales): LM, ACOR, CPS, CTS, GLRE, ATRI, GETR (5), FNF (2), DRE, VICR, MPAA, WSBF, CPRT, PFG, FRAP, ESES, FNBG, NWL, CRS, GAM (11), ROK, ORCL, BKFS (2), EV, NGS, ANAC (11), ALOG, NGS, GOOG, PLUS, SRLP, AMWD (2), CBI, LCI, URG, FBP (11), RRGB, DERM, VRA, SYBT, IPHS, PMTS (2), ITG (2), UCLE, LB, VRTX, TNGO, COF, TPLM, CLR, ADBE, HSON, NXRT, LGIH, ENBL, CAMP, CBU, CSCO, RRTS, PDVW, GPRE, CVCO, PHX, YHOO, TPHS, BCOR, TTEK, JUNO, NCS, SUM, HLT (3), YELP, CTIC, GWRE (2), ACPW, QTWO, USCR, ACM, SKUL, BFA, FB, JAKK, SRNE, WDAY, ZEN & PHF

Form 4's (Insider Disposals for $0): PPL, YUME, RAD (6), MVTF, WEYS (2), TCO, IBP, IRET, CTT (4) & SNI

I'm only going to conclude with a couple of notes here because I need to get others things accomplished here soon. One is about FBP. You may notice it is heavy on both the buy & sell side but it looks like some sort of options may have been filed here with multiple forms resulting in the buying side to be much heavier than the selling side.

Another that I made was that GOOG was the largest sale with $23,445,728 worth of shares sold by the CEO followed by FB with $12,471,780 worth of shares sold by their COO. I anticipated more selling going into Brexit but maybe we'll see the forms next week.

Finally, I noted that the only CFO's I noticed buying work for FBP & FBNC. The CFO's I saw selling work for GWRE, CAMP, PMTS, FBP, ANAC & WSBF. Following the money is always helpful, in my opinion.

Lastly, the Form 3 area was a lot higher than most of my blogs but bear in mind that these are just forms that indicate a change in the structure of the company board members. They're worth watching but not a tell all.

"Sell in May & Go Away" Is This the Beginning of Our Volatility Season?

Historically the Trader's Almanac has shown that more often than not, May is a selling month & the beginning of our "volatility season" which runs through October. Therefore, the rhyme "sell in May & go away" has been adopted by some trading strategies. With the signals that global markets started to show us last week, beginning with the Bank of Japan negative interest rate kicking off volatility in Asia, we are poised to our indices edge downwards even more. Sure there is a chance for another little pop up before the decline if China reports a positive PMI but what if they don't? Of course, these are all just my opinions but they are somewhat educated. All that I'm saying is that I have a few different trading accounts & my largest holdings in them as of Friday are in TVIX & UVXY. Also, though the chartist Carter called for the gold rally to stop on CNBC on Friday, I'm going to be shopping another gold stock on Monday. I've been swing trading miners for weeks now. Regardless, Friday was a bit heftier for the insider action I track so I'm going to start my tickers now & hopefully it helps out some of you with your weekend homework.

I didn't check out to find the largest buys or sells this time around but I did catch the CFO's buying & selling. The CFO's buying work for MSCC, KFS & FBP. The CFO's selling work for OFG, YHOO, TCBK, PED, AZZ, SXT, FBRC, CPHD, HBNC, SPGI, ISLE, WWD, SYK, DPS & IPG. The only other note that I took there was that Marissa Mayer was one of the insiders selling shares of YHOO.

I hope everyone is able to enjoy the rest of their weekend!

What Up Asian Markets?

Asian Markets sometimes have a tendency to put a damper on the U.S. Market advancement that could only have been put in place by a company as relevant as Facebook (FB). This company isn't just displaying "the example", it's projecting "the way" in this ever evolving world we live in that it is forced to revolutionize. Facebook has become "the way" and that being said, Kudos to Mark Zuckerberg for a different tier of what everyone had sought, right when they found it. I wish that the Bank of Japan didn't just send down a giant pigeon turd. It's not stopping a tear necessarily but please...Amazon (AMZN), you need to shine tomorrow to not tip the boat, in my opinion which is whatever. Either way, here are the insider tickers & this will be brief because I was in a research deficit today. Ta da:

Form 4's (Insider Disposals for $0): HPY (3), STI, GRIF (7), OSBC & PLD

As it is late, I do not have a lot because I had a sick kid to contend with all day & I need to ski before the season is over tomorrow. Therefore, I only list the CFO's buying & selling which leaves the rest strictly up to you. I hope you have a Happy Thursday in one way or another....the CFO's buying on Wednesday merely work for: ARA, PGC & UAL whereas the CFO's selling on Wednesday work for: WABC, VZ, DFS, INTC, CEB, WSM, TFM, HASI, CRM, YHOO, PLD, RKDA & JAZZ. I implore you to form your own decision on which way to chose your investments &/or trades.

Light Volume Day into the FOMC

There was extremely light volume overall within the markets today. Either people have already made their trades before coming into this week or are holding to see where the outcome of the Fed meeting goes. Tomorrow may make or break the potential volatility ride that we are about to embark on. Depending on the actual decision of instituting a rate hike for this announcement or not & whether the message is delivered dovish or hawkish can & will determine where & how markets are move for the next stent.  As of Apple's (AAPL) big letdown in after hours, the volatility rollercoaster seems to have fired up its engine to begin another ride. There are more major earnings reports tomorrow & for the next several weeks. Facebook (FB) could lend the indices a hand if it can beat its estimates. It's the only one that I think may pull it off but realistically, how much can it help when Alphabet (GOOG), Apple (AAPL) & Netflix (NFLX) have already disappointed? Regardless, I am just thinking out loud. The reason I really write this blog is to share my homework on the insider transactions I find. Here are the ones from Tuesday, April 26th:

13D's: HTM, EXXIQ, HEWA, IDXG, RIT, ATNY, CETV, SRNE, LCM, LINE & AVK

13G's: URBF, VMEM & CYNO

Form 4's (Insider Disposals for $0): MPSX (7), SNI, BHB (6), HBCP, BMI, BLMN (2), CTMX, SCS, PACB, WTM, FLT, NTRS, HPY (9) & ZAGG

Here are the notes that I have made for the buys that came through today beginning with Opko Health (OPK) with the highest monetary insider buy of $159,502,843 worth of shares bought. Dr. Frost has been buying shares for months now. If he's right, this company may be a goldmine in a very short time from now. Next I have noted that the CEO for Catalyst Pharmaceuticals (CPRX) took advantage of today's FDA postponement, which reduced the shares in half, as a buying opportunity. I have also noted that Choice Hotels (CHH) has had a high frequency of insider buying recently. They are coming into their earnings report on May 4th. This may be another to watch. Another interesting thing I saw was that the buys for SunEdison Semiconductors (SEMI) outweighed their sales significantly. Finally, The CFO's buying on Tuesday work for: PSG, SEMI, UVFT, FCFP, PRSS & XLIT.

My notes on the sale side are far lighter because they didn't stand out as much. I have Fortune Brands Home & Security (FBHS) as the largest sale with $24,007,488 worth of shares sold. The CFO's selling on Tuesday work for: FPRX, XLIT, INTC, ATRI, MCD, AHL, PH, ACAS, CRTO, CARB, FNFG, PERY, OMC, DLTR, EFII, DXCM, ACU & DHR.

Please do your own homework passed anything that you read on anyone's blog, or StockTwits, Facebook Stock Groups, or wherever you get your information. Also, please pay attention to how the sectors are being impacted by the current market conditions because that is a huge factor, too. Finally, it is important to know when any company you are trading or investing in is going into something big like an earnings report or an FDA decision. Hopefully, everyone is able to find green in their portfolio tomorrow.

Earnings Reports & the Fed Meeting This Week

As Friday was a celebration for our family, I was not trading live nor gathering tickers as they occurred. Instead, I have used the resources that I could today to gain the Forms that I track so my results may be limited. Regardless, this will be a major week for markets worldwide with the heavy hitter earnings reports due out and with the potential rate hike on the horizon. According to some, Passover is a time when money is removed from the markets whether for religious reasoning or out of caution. That is another factor that we may be contending with when the markets open Monday morning. Passover began at Sunset this past Friday during or even after the after market was closed. With that all being stated, here are the tickers I acquired:

13D'S: BLOX, RHNOD, ATLS (2), DWCH, ZTS, CP (2), HNSM, UTEX, HNSN, CPXX & NHF

There are some big companies reporting this week & I will be watching them all. My personal top five list includes three companies on Tuesday: Apple (AAPL), JetBlue (JBLU) & Twitter (TWTR). All three of these companies have had recent insider transaction & solely based upon those transactions, one may conclude AAPL & TWTR will potentially miss & that JBLU will potentially beat, in my opinion. The two I am following on Wednesday are Comcast (CMCSA) & Facebook (FB). Again, solely based upon the recent insider transactions, both companies may miss their estimates. As we all know, there are many factors involved in the outcome of a company during their earnings report. I honestly don't even recommend holding a stock into earnings but that is just a gamble that I don't like to take. Please do your own due diligence on any investments or trades that you are making in this potentially volatile market week. We need to remember the Fed decision is going to play a major factor on our indices.

I didn't take the time to configure the largest & smallest dollar amount on the forms today. I only looked at the CFO's buying & selling. The CFO's that were buying on Friday work for SUME & MCHX. The CFO's that sold on Friday work for: CIEN, CACI, EBTC, HQY, AAL, ZAYO, WSM, AMPH, MBA, FLTX & REGI. Two notable companies with insiders that were selling Friday were American Airlines (AAL) & Williams Sonoma (WSM). Finally, the last bit from my notes on Friday's tickers that I'm willing to share is that there were many companies selling in the financial sector. This could just be to eliminate risks going into the potential rate hike or could be based on their companies earnings reports or maybe something different. Either way, I hope that this helps out somebody out there & I hope that everyone is able to make some money this week in the market.

Riding the Bull Market

As the major U.S. indices approach all time heights, we are amidst a very crucial earnings season. Today was slightly quiet as for insider transactions but some of the transactions that I did catch are a seemingly big deal going into their first quarter report. For instance, the CEO of Alphabet (GOOG) sold some of his shares today & they report tomorrow after hours. He could be selling because of their major lawsuit with the EU or maybe he knows something more about the report than the rest of us. Either way, be careful with any stocks that are headed into their earnings report regardless of the analysts sentiment. A company like Alphabet (GOOG) could make or break the S&P so be ready to hold on tightly.

With that all being said, here are the tickers that I collected today:

Since I have some family in town, I didn't get into the nitty gritty today to see whose buys & sells were the biggest but I did gather the CFO lists for you. The CFO who bought today works for MFRI & the CFO's selling work for MKC, SWK, TGTX, ALKS, MEET, OMAM, JONE, DIS & BBY. The most noteworthy sale, in my opinion (asides GOOG) was the sale from an EVP/Control, Financial Planner & Tax executive for Disney (DIS).

Sorry to be so brief this evening but I've got to run. I hope that this helps somebody out & best of luck with your portfolio.
